Faculty & Staff

As a seminary network and through the ACTS consortium, CBS enjoys the shared availability of world-class resident and adjunct faculty. For a list of faculty see the ACTS website. In addition, CBS uses some of its own core faculty, adjunct professors, pastors, and affiliates drawn from its seminary network and the Baptist General Conference, who offer teaching and\or mentoring. 

Kevin Schular, President

Kevin Schular is the President of Canadian Baptist Seminary.   He has been a pastor for 35 years, Executive Director of a mission agency, Chairs The Mustard Seed Foundation in Alberta and Tearfund Canada.  Kevin has traveled the world doing ministry, sharing the gospel, church planting and working with the poor, homeless and refugees.  He has a M.A. from McMaster Divinity College and is completing doctoral work at St. Stephens college at the University of Alberta 

Sarah Last, Office Administrator

  

Sarah serves as the Office Coordinator for Canadian Baptist Seminary. Her love for all things organized allows her to keep the office running smoothly. Ask her what she most enjoys about her role at CBS and she will tell you it’s the people; meeting students from all over the globe and learning about their experiences, chatting with supporters and learning their stories. Sarah shares her time between the CBS office and the British Columbia Baptist Conference office.

Wendell Phillips, DMin.

 

Wendell serves as chief financial officer of CBS and assistant to the president, and faculty in Pastoral and Church Ministries. He is a graduate of Bethel Theological Seminary (MDiv.) and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (DMin.). Wendell has served as a pastor in 2 churches in the Vancouver area and has been involved with Canadian Baptist Seminary since 1991. He has been involved in many roles over the years at the Seminary and takes interest in working with students as they pursue excellence and equipping for ministry. Wendell is married to Carolyn and they have 3 married daughters and 6 grandchildren.

Bernard Mukwavi, Adjunct Faculty

  

Bernard serves as the district minister of the British Columbia Baptist Conference and core faculty in Missiology and Spiritual Leadership. He graduated from Canadian Theological Seminary (M.A.), Tyndale Theological Seminary in Holland (MDiv.), and Providence Theological Seminary (DMin.). Bernard has extensive missionary, teaching, and pastoral experience in Zambia, Holland, and Canada. His passion is to empower churches to fulfill the great commission and the great commandment in their communities. He is married to Anne and they have 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
